You can have trial of non operative treatment first.. Knee brace application Avoid knee bending and climbing stairs Medicine Gradual physiotherapy after 3 week If improvment, contine non operative treatment If no improvment, then surgery

If you have knee instability then you should get an acl reconstruction surgery done. If you have difficulty in walking uneven surfaces, giving away sensation, difficulty in getting downstairs, low confidence while running then acl reconstruction is the choice Even if you dont have the above symptoms but you are an active athelete and have pivoting actions then also aclr is the right choice
