Palpitations make you feel like your heart is beating too hard or too fast, skipping a beat, or fluttering. You may notice heart palpitations in your chest, throat, or neck. They can be bothersome or frightening. They usually aren't serious or harmful, though, and often go away on their own. Most of the time, they're caused by stress and anxiety, or because youâve had too much caffeine, nicotine, or alcohol. They can also happen when youâre
pregnant. So in your case from your symptoms it is likely to have been caused by the gastritis and the anxiety. You will require antacids to control the current situation. These following steps may help:
- Don't skip meals, break down 3 large square meals to 5 or 6 small meals as you can tolerate and slowly increase the frequency as you get better.
- Reduce/ Avoid spicy,fried, fatty, junk and oily food
- Avoid/ Limit drinking coffee, tea and carbonated drinks to once a day
- Exercise regularly (30-45mins/day)
- Increase daily intake of water to 3 liters
- Avoid/Stop smoking and drinking if you have the habit
- Reduce stress through methods such as yoga/meditation/tai-chi.
If the condition persists or worsens visit the ER at the earliest.
