Pain years after RCT
I have throbbing pain time to time in between my two teeth on which I had RCT done 7years ago.Also there occurs a small swelling at the base of the gum at this time. What can be the reason?

Hope I can decrease your discomfort
See it seems to be infection due to either breakage of RCT or food lodgement in the sulcus
I suggest you to take medications to get proper relief from pain and swelling

This might be due to caries in adjacent tooth caused by food impaction . There is severe gum infection too. Please visit the dentist and do subgingival scaling in that area, then take an IOPA xray and check for any decay in adjacent tooth. You can confirm the RCT treated tooth condition too. Hope this might be a gum pain. Please check for it.

Hello ,
There could be re- infection accosiated with rct treated tooth or may be deep cavity in adjacent tooth of rct treated tooth .
Need to rule out endo - perio ( Tooth as well as gum lesion ) lesion associated with both teeth .
Need clinical examination for periodontal pockets , cavity , POP / TOP test .
Need Xray for proper diagnosis.

There can be many causes of pain in previously RC- treated tooth including re-infection of root canals, vertical fracture etc. Adjacent teeth with deep cavities and infected root canals can also cause this type of pain. Definite diagnosis and treatment will depend on clinical and radiographic examination.

There is formation of periodontal pocket with gingival recession by food lodgement in between the teeth .so it requires clinical examination & investigations like dental radiograph.

Hi,
It is very possible that the RCT on one of the teeth has failed and it is now infected. The pus is collecting in your gum as a swelling.
