If the doc found it as De-quervain, then there is only option you can do is to follow dr.s advice. Wear Thumb splint, avoid weight lifting or working with the hand, icing/hot pack tiwce a day. In Physiotherapy only US and IR can be given to reduce pain but if it's not effective then i suggest you to take pemf sessions. Thus will help reduce the pain and repairs the damaged nerve or else have to go through surgery. I have done many cases, healed all of them with just needling and pemf sessions.

Hello , first you have to understand that pain mangement modalities are not a only solution for de quervain's synovitis , you should go through proper rehabilitation, that is the permanent solution for that , it's take certain months, here I will mention a protocol, try to understand and get proper physio rehab any near by physiotherapist. Phase-wise Rehabilitation: Phase 1 (0-2 weeks): 1. Pain management 2. Gentle range of motion exercises 3. Isometric strengthening Phase 2 (2-6 weeks): 1. Progressive strengthening 2. Dynamic stretching 3. Mobilization techniques Phase 3 (6-12 weeks): 1. Advanced strengthening 2. Functional activities (e.g., gripping, twisting) 3. Return to sports or activities Consult a physiotherapist experienced in treating De Quervain's tenosynovitis to develop a personalized rehabilitation plan.

You need to relieve your swelling first , reduce the work and provide rest to the joint , while maintaining the strength
Next Steps
For reducing swelling go with the modalities like ultrasound and hot pack. You can also do compression bandages that will help. To reduce the work and decrease the load , there is Taping used , while to maintain your strength you to have so active exercise and stop stretching your tendon
