A properly done RCT will not create pain. It can happen only in some complications.
Next Steps
Take an X-ray and diagnose. If need be medications can be taken.

Presses her cheeks??? Either there is pain on pressure  (while eating) or sensitivity on hot or cold . Such a peculiar symptom will require a good examination and investigation . On first thoughts ...mostly may be a gum infection which makes the gums sore and pains when pressed from the sides .
Next Steps
please get an examination done by a dentist and he will be able to evaluate the cause .May not necessarily be the same tooth and can also be due to sore gums
Health Tips
try warm salt water rinsing .it helps releive the pain till a visit to the dentist
