If you have some knowledge of anatomy, you will know that no gas can ever reach a hip joint except if the hip is affected by gas forming bacteria (by that stage you will be so serious that you will need ICU treatment) . So please be assured that no gas has entered your hip joint. Now the second part of your question, you should consult an Orthopedic surgeon in your area who can examine you physically, take a few X rays and advice further treatment.

Hip pain could be due to bones , joints, ligaments, bursae, tendon etc Typically hip pain is also felt in front upper thigh ,groin. If the pain bothering you it's better for you to have orthopedic consultation ,where he can do particular movements to elicit pain ,and to  do an basic hip joint x-ray .
