Most probabaly you have a problem of the knee cap cartilage. It is very common for middle aged people to have this issue. It is called chondromalacia patellae. You need to do the following things
1. Do not maintain prolonged sitting or standing posture. Alternate between them.
2. Need to do strengthening exercises for your muscles
3. Proper footwear
For this you should visit a physiotherapist.
