Ayurveda approaches Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) holistically, focusing on balancing mind and body by addressing doshic imbalances—primarily aggravated prana vata and disturbed sattva guna. Internal medicines include Brahma Rasayana, Brahmi Ghrita, Vacha Churna, Shankhpushpi, and Brahmi Vati. Shirodhara and nasya will be helpful. Followup and proper counselling is important for sustainable results.
Next Steps
Proper consultation and treatment under an experienced doctor is required for better results

OCD (Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder) • Obsessions (thoughts) – These are unwanted, repeated thoughts that keep coming into the mind. Example: “My hands are dirty, I might get sick.” or “Maybe I forgot to lock the door.” • Compulsions (actions) – To reduce the anxiety from those thoughts, the person feels they must do something again and again. Example: Washing hands 20 times, checking the lock many times, arranging things in perfect order.
Next Steps
Ayurveda explains OCD as a Vata-Pitta imbalance with Manovaha Srotas dushti. Management includes Panchakarma therapies, mind-calming herbs, diet, yoga, and counseling.
Health Tips
Deep breathing (4–7–8 method: inhale 4 sec, hold 7 sec, exhale 8 sec). Yoga & meditation – calm the brain and reduce anxiety. Progressive muscle relaxation – tighten & release muscles to reduce stress. Sleep well – 7–8 hours. Lack of sleep worsens OCD. Exercise daily – walking, cycling, or yoga reduces obsessive thoughts. Balanced diet – avoid too much caffeine (coffee, tea, cola) as it can increase anxiety.
