I went to the doctors today because I can't sleep at night they have gave me promethazine to help me sleep 25mg but haven't worked is it ok to take another one so that be 50mg taken?

U can but not always. If doubling the dose still doesn't help u change the medicine.
Next Steps
I would personally suggest u not to go for medicine for sleep. Instead try reading books at night and switch off Ur phone, tv after 9pm strictly.
