Babies become as we are, if we eat chips infront of them they are bound to ask for it. Eating habits develop at this age, it's always better to give healthy home cooked food. I understand in these days where mother is also working, try to make foods which can be stored for a week or two. Also never bribe a child with chocolate or any other junk food this forms a habit and difficult to get rid off.
Next Steps
Give different foods with different textures. Introduce one item once and not to  experiment 2-3 things at once. There are many recipes available online for toddler nutrition.
