Hello. It’s normal for infants to not pass stool for days in a row. Their digestive tract is still developing and learning. As long as baby is comfortable, no need to worry.
Next Steps
- Gently massage the tummy in circular motion - Bicycle movements of both legs - Continue feeds regularly (ensure you are making the formula feed correctly) - Don’t use suppository unnecessary and before prior consultation with your pediatrician - Do not give anything other than feeds
Health Tips
Visit your doctor if you still feel apprehensive. Warning signs: - Abdominal distension - Vomiting - Difficulty breathing - Inconsolable crying

Greetings infants experiencing mild constipation, having not pooped for 6 days despite normal urination and passing gas.It is important to understand that as a baby's digestive tract matures, infrequent stools can sometimes be normal, especially since breast milk components are absorbed very efficiently. To support their comfort safely, you can try gentle home remedies like moving the baby's legs in a "bicycle" motion while they are on their back.Additionally, gently massaging the baby's tummy in a soft, clockwise circular motion can help stimulate the abdominal area and encourage bowel movements.

If the baby is comfortable, feeding well, and passing gas: * Continue breastfeeding and prepare formula exactly as instructed. * Gentle tummy massage and bicycle-leg movements may help. * Do not give gripe water, castor oil, honey, or over-the-counter laxative drops without medical advice. If the baby appears uncomfortable or has hard stool at the rectum, use a glycerin suppository for occasional use after examination. Lactulose is another option but should only be started after your pediatrician confirms constipation and prescribes the correct dose.
