I am suffering from neck pain for the past 3 weeks. Went to orthopedic and suggested physiotherapy. Undergoing traction and heat therapy for the past 5 days. Still suffering from pain. Not reduced. x-ray shows normal. But one extra rib is present. Doctor says it will not create harm. Whenever I turn my head I face pain. Please suggest me to overcome and heal neck pain..

The neck pain could be arising from either some wear and tear of neck vertebrae or incorrect posture or from the extra rib (also called cervical rib) You need to work on improving the neck muscle strength and also improving your posture. All of this need to be worked on for atleast 6 months to help you. If there is any pain down arms or altered sensation see a Spinal Surgeon. Hope this helps. Hi.. I suggest you to kindly do icing frequently as frequent as every 2 hours once...on the painfully area. Gently stretch neck to sideways..hold it for 30 secs. Do circle rotations of shoulder.. gently..try large circles as possible.. Support your neck...while sleeping..sitting Do maintain proper neck posture always... Stretch neck flexors.. looking up to the ceiling and with neck tucked in slightly pushing the chin upwards with thumbs.... As pain permits.. Stretch your chest muscle.... Avoid carrying backpacks and lifting weights...
Next Steps
if I still face then consult a manipulative physiotherapist.. he will help in mobilising your neck facet joints...shoulder girdle..
Health Tips
Do not carry weights.. backpacks.. Maintain posture.. while sitting..sleeping.
