Neck and shoulder pain for Two days

I have been suffering from severe neck and shoulder pain from the past two days. The muscles along the shoulder seems to be hard and painful. I tried using volini spray and some herbal oil along with hot bag but didnt do much help. I feel my neck kind of holding something heavy

This may be due to acute strain in lower neck muscles. It would be better to start with analgesic with muscle relaxant tablet, apply analgesic ointment locally over the site of pain, continue hot fomentation,  avoid heavy work, avoid jerky movements of neck..
