Yesterday we took hba1c is 6.5 is it normal docter gave metaformin 500mg is it sufficient to control sugarlevels

HbA1C of 6.5 shows mild early diabetes. Therefore typically metformin 500 mg is the first step in management and usually proves enough. Would recommend obtaining HbA1C in 3 months to access response to metformin, if A1c improved this dose will be sufficient.
