My 16 days old kid is not breastfeeding

My 16 days old kid is not latching directly from breast as I have flat nipples. I have tried nipple shield but does not work. Syringing technique helped a bit but she is not putting pressure to latch out the milk. I am now using electric breast pump to express milk but the quantity is very less. Only 20-25 ml every 4 hours due to which I have to give Lactogen 1 formula milk to baby . Also breastmilk is reducing day by day. Previously it was 30 ml every 2 hours . Now 20-25 ml every 4 hours.

I would highly recommend you to see a lactation consultant. A lot of lactation consultants provide online sessions too. If you want to breast feed your baby  they can definitely help you.  If you are comfortable with formula, then go ahead. Do not stress, do not feel guilty over it. Keep a watch on baby's urine output. if baby has around 8 wet nappies per day and weight gain of 20-30 gm /day you are good. If you are able to achieve this only on breast milk then you have nothing to worry about. You are doing a great job. You got this!
