MUSCLE spasm can be caused by Overuse of a muscle, dehydration, muscle strain or simply holding a position for a prolonged period can cause a muscle cramp. First, stop doing whatever triggered the muscle spasm then: Gently stretch and massage the spasmodic muscle. Hold it in a stretched position until the spasms stop. Apply cold to sore/tender muscles or heat to tense/tight muscles. Drink plenty of water every day to stay hydrated. Do regular flexibility exercises before and after you work out.
