Hi there, I understand how difficult it must be to deal with family problems, lack of sleep and negativity in general. Although I would love to help you out, Iâm afraid I cannot suggest antidepressant drugs since they have to be prescribed by a psychiatrist. However let me tell you that usually there are multiple ways to treat depression without medication too. Since you have been dealing with this concern for over two months, I highly suggest that you consult a psychologist first. A psychologist is a trained mental health professional who would be able to look into your concern and understand your needs and formulate a specific treatment plan. The psychologist will also let you know if medication is necessary and if a consultation with a psychiatrist is required. If not, there are different types of therapy like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which will help manage and treat depression a lot better. More often than not, if medication is required, you would also be asked to go for therapy alongside it. Here are some steps you can take to help yourself while you figure out your treatment plan:
Reach out for support - Talk to your loved ones when you are feeling low. Reaching out for support always makes you feel loved, cared for and gives you a sense of security. In addition to this, sometimes a good conversation with one of your close friends instantly improves your mood,
Spend time caring for a pet - If you are unable to take care of a dog or another pet, make sure to go dog walking. You can even get a goldfish if you want to look for easier options. Caring for another being helps you more than it helps them! This will definitely keep you more positive.
Look for Support groups - Look for support groups online or offline for depression and other related concerns. It always helps if you can interact with other people from the same boat who are going through similar experiences. Having a safe space to talk about your concerns will always make a great change!
Try to sleep at the same time everyday - It is important that you sleep at the same time so that your body becomes conditioned to sleep at a particular time. This keeps you healthy and well rested for a new day full of new experiences.
Stay strong, you will get through this.
