Melatonin at the middle of sleep

I have bipolar insomnia and i wake up in 4 hours after going to sleep. I take 1 mg melatonin then to go back to sleep. Is that ok or would that effect my cercadian rythm?

Hello Sir You can increase the dose of melatonin as 1 mg might not be sufficient to make your sleep complete for the night And once sleep is stable and good, plan would be reduce it and stop Still, details of your illness is required for better assessment and management

If you have been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and you are facing insomnia ot means you are undertreated ND possibly having an episode. Please seek help. Also, I don't think 1mg is helping you, I feel it's rather placebo. Will be happy to help

Disturbance in sleep is one of the first symptoms in case of a relapse which has to be ruled out, and hence your current status is to be assessed by your psychiatrist as you have mentioned bipolar insomnia. If there are any mild symptoms of relapse then we can prevent worsening by adjusting your medications for bipolar. Taking Melatonin 1mg is not very effective in case of an adult.

Hello. Rather than waking up and taking melatonin, it would be better if you take the melatonin before sleeping for a few days. Otherwise you body and brain will form a habit of waking up everyday in the middle of the night to take melatonin. If you need any other help as well you can consult a psychiatrist.
