Low haemoglobin, and easy weight gain

I am a male and have had low haemoglobin (~11.0) since childhood. I have tried iron supplements but they have not had much effect. I guess because of this I have a tendency to gain weight very easily. I am not diabetic but my father and grandfather both have suffered from it. I want to know whether hypothyroidism has a role in this, or is it some other problem that is plaguing me.

There are many things involved . Mere iron supplements won't work enough. The body need to be infection free as we'll full healthy to absorb the iron from the intestines. Please share all your reports with me especially iron Profile, stool culture, CBC etc
