I have been on olazapine for few years for bipolar disorder and recently started having depression with some insomnia as well. I'm thinking of talking to my doctor about latuda for bipolar depression. Does latuda make insomnia worse?

Olanzapine and latuda(Lurasidone) are both antipsychotics with lurasidone being a drug free of metabolic side effects. Olanzapine is quiet sedating drug while as lurasidone may in some cases lead to insomnia and prone to cause akathisia. Keeping in view your condition you are a case of bipolar affective disorder currently in depression. There are some other treatment alternatives like you can add fluoxetine 20mg to olanzepine Or add lamotrigine as mood stabilizer of choice in bipolar depression. After more detailed history further actions can be taken or suggested.

Latuda is an antipsychotic and not a primarily sleep promoting medicine. So you need to ascertain correctly the symptom
