If a patient comes to you with a complains of having long term persistent depression along with episodes of MDD (without a history of brain injury, past trauma/abuse or recent grief situation). Would you prescribe regular blood work to rule out for example deficiency of a vitamin? Would you also prescribe for brain imaging,CT scan,MRI of the brain? Will u try to find out if or not the depression is a symptom of a disease?(for ex.neurological illness or hormone/ gland disorder) What physical lab tests will you recommend in such a case?
