At the age of 62 years, it's not unusual to have meniscal tears. The more likely and significant issue is worn out cartilage. Doctors refer to this as osteoarthritis or wear-and-tear arthritis. Most critical issue is that cartilage is one tissue that doesn't have the capacity to heal. No matter how good the supplements or PRPP or injectable viscosupplements are, the cartilage is not coming back. So important to understand that these are temporary measures. They are certainly better than taking pain killers for a long duration.
The only permanent solution for a worn out knee is Total Knee replacement. However an artificial knee can never match upto your original knee, so get surgery done when the pain and deformity in the knee is interfering with your day to day activity.
Moreover none of the medicines can also repair the torn meniscus, which is also a different type of cartilage.
Next Steps
Presently I prefer viscosupplements to PRPP so would recommend that for you. Relief from your symptoms will depend on the severity of arthritis in the knee.
Health Tips
Avoid climbing steps and getting down to the floor as much s possible. Walk daily for at least 30 min. Eat greens and fruits. Maintain your weight. Strengthen your thigh muscles to unload your knee. Physio can help you with this.
