Hi, The treatment after partial acl tear can be  variable. It usually depends on the amount of partial tear, presence of instability and functional demands of the patient. If there is less than 50% tear, in the absence of instability (giving way of the Knee) and non - Sports person, then conservative or non surgical treatment has good results. In active Sports persons, the tear is likely to extend further and the instability can lead to damage to the other ligaments of the Knee. Its always best to approach a Sports Medicine Consultant or an Arthroscopy Surgeon in person and follow his advice. Regards, Dr Saseendar, Consultant Arthroscopy and Sports Surgeon
