When your knee gets dislocated, the structures around it, like ligaments get stretched and lax. Other soft tissues like meniscus might also have got injured.
So first step in treatment is to know what all structures have got injured/damaged? If they are intact? If they are lax? So to know all this information, best modality is to get an MRI of the knee done and consult Orthopaedic Surgeon as soon as possible.
Based on the report, we would be able to decide whether surgery is required or can get away without.
