After the pain subsides, and when you resume back your game, always do some warm up stretches before the game and make sure you are adequately hydrated this will prevent any form of injury.
As body takes time to heal make sure you keep your injured part supported by bandaging or bracing during the game because once the tissue gets injured becomes prone to recurrent injury.
