Eye masks help in sleep induction, improving quality of sleep, sleep comfort and effectiveness, with less intermittent awakening or sleep disturbance/distortion. It do all this mediated by increasing serum melatonin level. it should not be wore too tightly. It works best if sleep schedule is maintained, like in your case day time naps are not advisable as it decreases effectiveness of this intervention.
