Hi doc! I am 7 weeks pregnant with a previous history of pcod and prediabetic (h1abc) being 5.8. I am suggested to continue metformin for next month. I am concerned if this is safe for foetal diabetic

Yes it is safe. You can discuss your concern with your doctor who prescribed it in the first place . Or you might want to discuss it with me if you desire. But there's no need to be worried. Metformin is being given to women with gestational diabetes mellitus, and impaired glucose tolerance. The risks of a diabetic without treatment is more and has adverse effects on foetal development.
