Is gluconorm SR 500 safe in pregnancy

Hi Doctor I'm 32 weeks pregnant, had done GTT test in which post glucose is 185 so doctor suggested for gluconorm SR 500. Is it safe to take ? Will it cause any side effects on Baby ?

At that stage of pregnancy the only safe medicine is Insulin. It is not the time to try oral drugs. Please get your six blood sugar levels done and consult with your Gynaecologist who may like to refer you to a Diabetologist  for the proper control of Diabetes.

You need to be worried about the sugar levels rather than the side effects of gluconom You need to follow a strict diabetic diet and take the medicine advised Measure your sugar levels and maintain fasting sugars less than 95 and post lunch sugar less than 140
