I am a student and I have a problem of irritation and anxiety to sounds. I cannot bear minute sounds also like sound of birds, dogs barking, night cricket insect sound. Etc. I cannot study and I'm very distracted and disturbed by it. I use headphones/earmuffs to subside it but nothing is working out. Pls help me. What shall I do?

Getting irritated by such things could be because of some underlying stress. Not being able to concentrate and getting distracted easily is also a sign of distress. There must be some underlying reason because of which you are suffering from this.

Health Tips
1. Try to give some time to things you enjoy. 2. During time of irritation, try doing basic breathing exercise. This helps in reducing anxiety immediately. 3. make a list of noises /sounds which irritate you and at what time ? Are there any triggers? and then discuss them with your therapist. 4. Are they real sounds? coming from inside your head or outside?

Hi hope you are doing well. Some people have a low threshold for sound sensitivity so for them even the slightest and the most pleasing sound also becomes loud and shreaky.. it is called hyperacusis. First step is to visit an ENT doctor to get your ears checked and if all is normal then you can always visit a psychiatrist because in patients with extreme anxiety this symptoms can occur quite frequently. Take care
