Delayed sleep onset can occur due to multiple reasons and only curing the sleep problem wont be that helpful. I recommend you consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and treatment.
Delayed sleep onset can be prevented by:
- sleeping in a quiet, dark and cool room
-avoid watching tv while falling asleep
-avoid coffee, tea , tobacco and cigarette before sleep
-avoid heavy meal before sleeping
-avoid vigorous exercise before sleeping
-avoid seeing clock/time again and again whilst lying in bed
