I've had  lightheadedness for a year now

2026-09-09 10:04:07
In April to Aug2025, I had recurrent severe colds/URIs with tonsillitis requiring multiple courses of antibiotics. It cleared in August. In September 2025, I experienced severe lightheadedness for the first time, one day before my period. Since then, similar episodes have recurred around my periods, but also at other times, especially with sleep deprivation, around meals, and particularly while sitting. From Oct 2025–Mar 2026, GPs repeatedly prescribed Vertin (betahistine), which did not help. In April 2026, I was diagnosed with sinus tachycardia; my lightheadedness became much more frequent during a period of severe burnout. A 24-hour Holter showed an average HR of 94 bpm, maximum 153 and minimum 43, including elevated rates at rest. Symptoms became less frequent in May–July. In August 2026, I developed another cold, had my period, and developed jock itch requiring ~2 weeks of treatment. After this illness, the lightheadedness increased again and now occurs during multiple cycle phase

Recurrent lightheadedness around periods needs a structured review rather than repeated Vertin. Please check CBC/ferritin, blood sugar, thyroid profile, electrolytes and lying-standing BP/pulse; anaemia and postural tachycardia should be ruled out. Keep good fluids, regular meals and note your pulse, BP and cycle relation. I can review your reports through a Practo consult or at Synergy Multispeciality Hospital, Miraj.

Since your lightheadedness follows your cycle and you already have a sinus tachycardia diagnosis, your cardiologist and gynaecologist should review this together.
Next Steps
Ask them whether hormonal shifts around your period could be affecting your heart rate, since that connection is easy to miss when specialists work in isolation.
Health Tips
Please don't let this continue untreated. A pattern that's lasted a year and follows your cycle deserves a fresh joint review now.

Recurrent lightheadedness may be multifactorial. Consider orthostatic intolerance/POTS, iron deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, dehydration and hypoglycemia. Check orthostatic vitals, CBC/ferritin, TSH and glucose. Adequate hydration, regular meals and sleep are advised. Cardiology/medicine review if persistent.
Health Tips
Stay well hydrated, eat regular meals, rise slowly, avoid prolonged standing, get adequate sleep, and limit excess caffeine. Track HR/BP and symptoms, especially around periods
