For 144/90 to 148/100 and no kidney , heart or liver problems and slight high cholesterol , is Stamlo 5 better or Telmisartan 40 mg . I never took anti hypertensive or any allopath Medicine for any chronic disease. Please suggest. No diabetes . Also lifestyle changes couldn't improve the bp

Stamlo and Telmisartan have no similarity except that both are used to control hypertension. Their mode of action is absolutely different. Both are used as first line drugs. So it is the experience and discretion of the Physician which drug he recommends. The only thing is that if the dose of one drug is very high then we can reduce the dose of that drug and use the other drug simultaneously. In short you should continue to use the drug which you have been using. You will gain nothing by switching drugs.

If non-pharmacological treatment has not helped you to lower the BP , antihypertensives are indicated.stamlo 5 and telmisatan 40 are very good medicines but belong to different class ,either of them could be started as first line treatment, and later on if necessary as a combination medicine to control the blood pressure
