How to prevent tooth decay

2018-09-05 12:21:33
I am a 32-year-old man and I have a 5-year-old daughter. She loves toffees, sweets, icecreams and chocolates as any kid does of her age. I am worried about her teeth as I cannot simply stop her from enjoying the pleasures of a happy childhood. What can I do in order to prevent tooth decay in her? She is a kid and oral regime is not something that can be imposed on so easily. Can someone help me?

Hello sir Children should not be stopped to enjoy the pleasure of childhood but provided they should rinse after having it. Also u as a parent can select the types of sweets she is having - like gel toffee, lollipop because gel toffee don't last much longer in mouth and lollipop she has to lick again and again.  Apart from this as a dentist I suggest do brushing twice with or without water. Go for fluoridation treatment at dental clinic. Buy new coloured beautiful tooth brush or for attraction use battery operated brush. Some flavored tooth paste are also available in market. Regards Dr Parul Rai We will be happy to consult you.

Oral hygiene is a matter of inculcating habit in ones child . Try brushing in front of your child as kids tend to follow elders . Slowly she would also get into this habit . Make your child rinse her mouth every time after she eat s chocolates Brushing in the morning and night before she sleeps should be made a routine for her These small measures will save you and your child from undergoing any dental agony
