Fever in diabetics at age more than 55 yrs is usually due to urinary tract or respiratory infections. Usually urinary tract infection has less dramatic but more vague symptoms.

urgent physician consultation. blood test should include urine routine examination , blood
sugar,
liver function test, urea
creatinine and serum
electrolytes. hospital admission may be necessary if persistent fever, low urine output, poor oral feeding, dehydration, low/high blood pressure. if admitted do a bllod culture also before jumping to antibiotics. ideally antibiotics should be started very early.
