It heals better if you take a treatment for it. Otherwise there are chances that you might loose a tooth related to a gum boil. It's the infection that destroys the bone surrounding your tooth and results in decayed tooth .Take a treatment asap if you notice a gumboil. Till then warm saline gargles are must!
