Hba1c value 7. Rybelsus and metformin

I had a blood work lab recently and my hba1c came out as 7. My Dr said it has to be below 5.5.. My last value was 6.3 and my Dr put me on metformin 1000mg twice a day. I am taking metformin 2000mg a day for the last few months. The value didn't came down even with this high dose of metformin. So my Dr gave me a new medicine Rybelsus. I started this rybelsus 3mg last week and feel so miserable. Have bad nausea, stomach pain and diarrhea. Feels nauseated all the time. Dr said that's expected and gave me nausea medicine. That didn't help too. I feel like vomiting very badly all the time and keep running to the bathroom. Do I need to get second opinion for this hba1c value? Do I need both medicines (rybelsus and metformin) for this hba1c value? I am obese too, which I am working to reduce the weight now. Is metformin alone helps with diabetes reaction with this value? Or need both medicines? Is rybelsus known to cause this much severe side effects? Thanks .
