My hba1c on may was 5.7 which was prediabetes, while fasting and normal sugar was in the normal range. Should I test once again hba1c ? is this test a good indicator of blood sugar?

HbA1c is a good indicator of average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. While a level of 5.7% does fall into the prediabetic range, it’s important to consider other factors, such as fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. If these were normal and there's no other risk factor, it might not be necessary to retest immediately. However, since HbA1c provides a broader picture of glucose control, retesting in 3-6 months or sooner if there are changes in symptoms or risk factors could be advisable. Regular monitoring and lifestyle changes are key to preventing progression to diabetes.
