Patients are infectious from 48 hours before the appearance of vesicles until the rashes have crusted usually 5-7 days , sometimes even longer.You have to isolate yourself avoid contact with others who might be susceptible, follow hand hygiene .
For your symptoms you can use paracetamol as needed , antihistamine if you experience itching , calamine lotion locally and antiviral medicine to shorten the duration of infection period.
