Grinding and popping sound in both knee

My mother aged 62+ has been experiencing a grinding sensation in both her knee since the last 4 to 5 days. It's not painful but I'm concerned. She is a little over weight (BMI 32.7). Please advice what steps should be taken at the earliest.

She would be suffering from osteoarthritis knee. It is an old age disease If the pain is being controlled by medication then it’s fine or it will eventually require knee replacement surgery. You can get an X ray and consult me online for detailed consultation

Going by her age, she's probably starting to have osteoarthritis. Symptomatic treatment to begin with and avoid climbing stairs and sitting low.
Next Steps
Get an xray done and consult online
