GDM,Vommiting,Ketoacidosi

My wife is 2 month pregnent she is diabetic. She is admited in Bhagat Hosp from last 12 days due to vommiting In her urine ketones are found and varies from negative to larg 80 Now she vommit twice a day but ketones dont goes down Her glucose level is arround 230 Kindly sugest me Dr said just drink water. Should i consult anywhere else.

Latest guidelines suggest insulin is the best treatment for diabetes in pregnancy Kindly start her on insulin

Ketone in urine is suggestive of starvation. Maintain proper hydration.  Treatment should be given to stop vomiting. Diabetes in pregnancy should be treated with insulin. Monitor her sugar before each insulin dose. Consult diabetologist for expert opinion. Advise : Ultrasound for status of pregnancy.

Hi, as the sugars r high, it should be controlled. Sugars also harm the Pregnancy,  so please take advise from diabetic dr (endocrinologist)  and sugar monitoring to be done fasting and after each meals till it controlled.

Her blood sugars need to be controlled along with ketone levels. A diabetes specialist will be able to help you.

She needs to be on insulin for blood sugar control..iv hydration has to be given along with monitoring of electrolytes for persistent vomiting. She needs to be under supervision of endocrinologist. It is important to look for hidden focus of infection like UTI which can aggrevate symptoms
