ESR is a nonspecific inflammation marker and can vary with infection, anaemia, menstruation, pregnancy, age, laboratory method and several chronic conditions. Wearing a mask does not directly raise or lower ESR, and repeated tests on consecutive days may create confusing variation. The result must be interpreted with symptoms, examination, CBC, CRP and other targeted tests rather than treated by itself. Persistent ESR values above 100 or symptoms such as fever, weight loss, joint swelling or prolonged cough need prompt assessment. Please book a consultation with all dated reports so the trend and need for further evaluation can be reviewed properly.

ESR is a nonspecific marker and can fluctuate considerably; it does not by itself diagnose an infection, autoimmune disease or cancer. Mild anemia, infections/inflammation and several other factors can raise ESR. Since your CBC, LFT and KFT are reportedly normal, the result should be interpreted along with your symptoms, CRP and clinical examination, rather than repeatedly checking ESR alone. Please consult me on Practo with your complete reports and symptoms so we can decide whether any further evaluation is actually required.

Hi You mentioned chronic pharyngitis.what are your symptoms. If your symptom is cough, rule out TB. It can be one reason for high ESR . Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) level fluctuates because it is a non-specific marker reflecting changes in blood proteins caused by inflammation, infections, or physiological shifts. Because it changes easily, an unstable or fluctuating ESR is rarely diagnostic on its own and usually requires tracking alongside clinical symptoms. Infection, anemia, autoimmune diseases flare up etc etc... can cause high esr. Some medicines, blood diseases can lower ESR .
Next Steps
feel free to consult me on practo for further evaluation and management

A consultation would help correlate the results with your symptoms and decide whether any further evaluation is needed.

High esr, crp, indicate chronic inflammation,  alterations in figures of results  does not mean much, all  are high.
