Finasteride can cause erectile dysfunction, reduced libido and ejaculatory changes. It does not reduce testosterone production; it blocks conversion of testosterone to DHT. Most patients improve after stopping, but recovery may take weeks to months, and rarely symptoms can persist. “Hyperspermia” is not typical—finasteride more commonly reduces semen volume.

Erectile dysfunction and changes in ejaculation are known side effects of finasteride. The good news is that for most men, these reverse within 1â3 months after stopping the medication. You've done the right thing by stopping it.
