Hello Doctor, I have been taking Paroxetine 12.5 mg for the past 1 week for anxiety, mild depression, and premature ejaculation. I take it at night after food as prescribed. Since starting the medication, I have been experiencing: • Nausea • Daytime drowsiness (even after sleeping 8-9 hours) • Occasional brain fog • Lack of appetite in the morning Additionally, I am taking Centrum Multivitamin in the morning or afternoon after food. Are these side effects normal during the initial weeks? Should I continue the medication or consider adjusting the dose? Is it safe to take the multivitamin along with Paroxetine? Please advise. Thank you.

I want to acknowledge how much courage it takes to voice these struggles. Often, we treat mental health as a matter of 'willpower,' but as a psychiatrist, I can tell you that what you are experiencing has a real biological and neurological basis. Your brain, like any other organ, can sometimes struggle to maintain balance under stress. Seeking treatment isn't a sign of failure; it’s a proactive medical decision to regain your quality of life. We can work together to understand the 'why' behind these feelings and find a structured path back to your baseline. You don't have to navigate this alone.

Yes your body will adjust with the medications. Do consider the possibility of adding psychotherapy for your mood symptoms.

Hey, I just wanted to say it’s a really good move that you reached out instead of just quitting the meds because of the side effects. It’s super common for your body to need a little “buffer time” to get used to everything, which is exactly why your sleep and stomach have been acting up lately.
Next Steps
wait and watch
Health Tips
Don’t stress too much for now. Just try to hang in there for another two weeks to give the medicine a fair shot to actually start working. If you’re still feeling off or things aren't improving by then, that’s the time to touch base with your psychiatrist or maybe even grab a second opinion just to be sure.
