Unless diagnosed as a cervical spondylosis case, most of the times one side neck pain is due to minor muscle issues which can be attributed to natural protective muscle spasm.
If it's a recent onset of pain. Leave it for 2-3 days, no exercise, no stretches, not even hot/ cold packs. It'll improve.
If it stays more than 3-5 days, consult a Physio before self starting any exercise plan. One consultation is sufficient in most such cases.
