Hello. Yes, Taking antibiotics gives upper abdomen pain/Epigastric pain as it directly irritates gastric lining and increases acid secretion. It is quite common only. And hope you are aware that bandy plus is used for routine deworming and should be taken as SINGLE DOSE.
Next Steps
Please consult with detailed history and how long and which antibiotic you are taking right now.
Health Tips
You can take pan 40 mg once daily in the morning before food which can help as of now.

Dear patient Yes, long-term antibiotics and Bandy-Plus (Albendazole + Ivermectin) can cause upper abdominal pain in some people. Why it happens: 1️⃣ Antibiotics (especially if taken for many days) Gastritis (stomach lining irritation) Acidity / burning pain in upper abdomen Altered gut flora → bloating, discomfort Rarely liver irritation (depends on drug) 2️⃣ Bandy-Plus Albendazole can cause: Epigastric pain Nausea Mild liver enzyme elevation More common if taken on empty stomach 🔍 Important questions: Is the pain burning type or sharp stabbing? Does it increase after food? Any vomiting, black stool, fever, jaundice? ⚠️ When to worry: See a doctor urgently if: Severe persistent pain Repeated vomiting Yellow eyes (jaundice) Black/tarry stool Pain radiating to back ✅ What you can do now: Avoid spicy, oily food Take meals on time Start a PPI like pantoprazole (if not already) Take probiotics (if antibiotics recently completed) Don’t take painkillers like diclofenac tell me: Which antibiotic? How many days? Is pain right side, center, or left upper abdomen? I’ll guide more specifically.

Yes — long-term antibiotics and Bandy-Plus (Albendazole + Ivermectin) can cause upper abdominal pain. Common mechanisms: • Gastritis (most common) • Acid irritation • Altered gut flora • Mild liver irritation (rare but possible) Upper abdominal (epigastric) pain after these medicines is usually due to drug-induced gastritis, especially if: • Pain is burning in nature • Worse on empty stomach • Associated with nausea, bloating, acidity If pain is severe, persistent, or radiates to back — liver or pancreas evaluation may be required, but that is uncommon. Most cases are stomach irritation.
Next Steps
✔ Stop unnecessary antibiotics if course is completed ✔ Start a proton pump inhibitor (like Pantoprazole before breakfast) for 10–14 days ✔ Avoid spicy/oily food ✔ Do LFT (liver function test) if: • Pain is persistent • There is yellowing of eyes • Dark urine • Severe weakness ✔ Ultrasound abdomen if pain continues >1–2 weeks If pain improves after starting acid suppression, it confirms gastritis.
Health Tips
✔ Never take antibiotics without food (unless instructed otherwise) ✔ Avoid alcohol completely during recovery ✔ Eat small frequent meals ✔ Include curd/probiotics to restore gut flora ✔ Avoid painkillers like diclofenac or ibuprofen Most antibiotic-related gastritis improves within 1–2 weeks with proper care. If your pain is persistent or worsening, I recommend booking an online consultation so we can assess the exact pain pattern, review your medication history in detail, and decide whether this is simple gastritis or requires further investigation.
