Ear wax removal is mostly done without anaesthesia, but if someone can't tolarate the pain , may be wax was not soft enough, he can continue ear drop for few more days to make the wax softer . sometimes it can be done under local anaesthesia . General anaesthesia as such not needed . In medical science every patient is different and treatment protocol is decided after seeing the patient on individual basis.Cost varies from clinic to clinic and hospital to hospital ,but it should not be that costly.
