Discomfort in mouth due to missing teeth

2022-07-04 08:45:20
I got my  3 last teeth from bottom right side extracted 3/4 yrs back and I didn't replaced it.A few days back I started feeling some discomfort in my mouth,I consulted my local dentist and he advised that my two surrounding teeth near to the missing teeth have tilted a little to occupy the vacant space. He suggested that I can get a narrow implant done or just leave it as it is because teeth will not move any further..but I am still experiencing discomfort and little pain also in that area.I have an headache too which I am not sure is because of it or not. Please suggest me what all can be done and how to get rid of the discomfort and pain.

Hello.. Welcome to practo.. The molar teeth are mostly involved in occlusion and extraction of these teeth cause difficulty in deglutition.. So it gradually causes pain in tmj.. I advise you to replace the teeth.. And avoid wide opening of the mouth and sleep well and take healthy diet.. Consult me for further details.. Thank you..

As the Extraction was done years back , it may not be cause of the discomfort. Discomfort may be due to various reasons 1) Malocclusion : As you mentioned your adjacent teeth has tilted to fill the extracted space, you must have a problem of Malocclusion where the upper and the lower teeth are not contacting each other properly or in the correct fashion and this may lead to increased stress on your lower two teeth which may result in discomfort or pain 2) Carious Teeth : The adjacent teeth may be carious and it should be diagnosed with radiographs 3) Periodontal issues
Next Steps
Consult a Dentist and Explain him/her about the issue you are facing.

Its already been 4 years since you got your tooth extracted. Ideally it should not cause you any pain. You should get an x ray of the concerned area to rule out any other cause that is causing you pain.
