Yes if the tooth which was removed was a back side tooth it requires attention as space for next tooth has to be kept intact get a space maintainer applicable for the child which will be suggested best by a pedodontist

After removal of milk teeth it is prudent to fix a space maintainer so that space for the eruption of the permanent successor teeth is assured. It would be helpful if I knew your son's age and  which tooth has been removed. Sometimes space maintainers may not be given if the permanent tooth is near eruption which can be determined by patient's age or xray of the tooth. Consult a dentist personally for a clinical evaluation.

Going by your description and assuming that the tooth that was removed was a milk tooth, it would be highly advised to go for a space maintainer, so that the permanent teeth erupt in line..... please consult an orthodontist for the best opinion in this case.... Regards.....

After extraction of milk teeth the space need to be maintained till the permanent successor teeth erupts so it is prior to use Space maintainers. In some cases space maintainer necessity is not required depending on the tooth removed & age of the patient as the permanent tooth is going to erupt. Plz visit Pedodontist....
