Do we need a CBCT scan before one tooth extraction? We are planning to go for only tooth extraction. We will not go for dental implant.

Hi,     It depends, if your dentist/ oral surgeon doubt any complication they will advice CBCT before extraction.     Please share Intraoral examination details with photographs of your teeth for better understanding.

Generally CBCT scan is recommended when a doctor wants more clarification on some area. CBCT evaluates underlying bone structure, nerve pathways and surrounding soft tissues. So If doctor suggests it then go for it.

If it’s impacted wisdom tooth then maybe sometime we need cbct otherwise opg or iopa is sufficient.

If your planning for ONLY extraction, CBCT might not be required, unless the tooth has a different morphology or if there’s any lesion/cyst/tumour pertaining to that tooth . Some cases of wisdom tooth extraction needs CBCT too if the roots are suspected to be approximating the nerve

Good morning... If the dr suspects that there is some anatomical structures close to the concerned teeth and wants a proper clarification so that he or she can plan safe teeth extraction process he will advice cbct..so it depends on situation whether it's required or not
