1. Persistent two-week night cough needs repeat pediatric examination and reassessment. 2. Check for wheezing, allergies, reflux, postnasal drip, or pneumonia signs. 3. Keep head slightly elevated; offer fluids and saline nasal drops. 4. Avoid smoke, dust, strong perfumes, and cold air exposure. 5. Seek urgent care if breathing difficulty, fever, poor feeding, or bluish lips.
Next Steps
Consult immediately

Hello There could be various reasons for night time cough like post nasal drip in a child with cold or possible wheeze should also be excluded.. since its already been 2 weeks of cough and it has not subsided even on medication a direct consultation would be beneficial to assess the issue. For now you can use humidifier at night times during sleep, given 1 tsp of honey but to evaluate the cause consultation is needed.

A cough lasting for 2 weeks, especially if it is worse at night, needs re-evaluation rather than repeated cough syrups.
Next Steps
Please visit your pediatrician again for a detailed examination. If your child develops difficulty breathing, fast breathing, persistent fever, poor feeding, lethargy, bluish discoloration, or continuous vomiting after coughing, seek medical care immediately.

Night-time cough for 2 weeks in a 3-year-old is most often due to a post-viral cough, allergy with postnasal drip, or early asthma rather than a bacterial infection. Since symptoms are persisting despite treatment, your child should be re-examined by a pediatrician. A chest examination and evaluation for allergy or asthma may be needed. Avoid giving repeated antibiotics or cough syrups without review. Seek urgent care if there is breathing difficulty, persistent fever, bluish lips, or poor feeding.

Greetings persistent nighttime cough in a toddler could be consistent with cough-variant asthma, postnasal drip from allergies or sinusitis, or a post-infectious viral cough. Potential management routes include a pediatric review to evaluate for reactive airway diseases, using a cool-mist humidifier at night to soothe the airway, or administering a teaspoon of dietary honey (safe for children over 1 year) before bed to reduce throat irritation. Please seek immediate medical care if she displays red flags like difficulty breathing, an unusually fast breathing rate, or a high fever.
